I was getting tired of taking four capsules of fish body oil every eight hours so I decided to try higher strength omega‑3 capsules.
The ones I had been taking contained 180mg EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and 120mg DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) per 1000mg capsule. The higher strength ones contained 330mg EPA and 220mg DHA per 1000mg capsule. I decided to take two every eight hours. The dose was slightly lower at 660/440 versus 720/480 but I thought that I could increase the dose if necessary. Unfortunately, after about two weeks I lapsed into a state of depression where I was unable to do anything except watch YouTube videos for hours on end. Part of my brain was telling me that I needed to increase the omega‑3 dose but I could not act upon it. One day, after four weeks of the lower dose, I soiled my underwear twice and this gave me the impetus to finally increase the dose to three capsules every eight hours.
The outcome of this experience is that I was able to determine that the required dose lies between 660/440 and 720/480 EPA/DHA.
