The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of
‘Laser vision’
I first noticed this effect when I was about eleven or twelve so it cannot be attributed to vitamin D deficiency. As I looked at the pattern on the embossed ceiling paper in my bedroom, I noticed that the shapes seemed as though illuminated by a soft spotlight. I imagined for a moment that I might be shooting laser beams from my eyes like Superman, hence the title.
I have noticed the effect sporadically about five times over the years. Two of those were when I was looking at my keyboard at work.
I suspect that this is related to
attentional blindness.
